Stay Alert: Protecting Your Business from Fraud

As technology evolves, we are seeing an unfortunate increase in fraudulent activity targeting businesses. Protecting your financial security is a top priority; please keep these essential safeguards in mind:

  • Verify Bank Changes: If you receive an email advising of a change to bank account details, always confirm by calling the person or business using a trusted phone number.
  • Check Emails Carefully: Fraudsters can make emails appear highly genuine. Inspect the sender’s address and be wary of urgent requests or unexpected attachments.
  • Pause and Verify: If an unexpected phone call claims an urgent issue or asks for remote computer access, hang up. Contact the organisation directly via their official website or a trusted phone number.
  • Use Strong Security: Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) everywhere, keep passwords unique, and ensure your software is updated regularly.

A Note from Oxford Edge: We will never notify you of changes to our bank account details solely by email. If you receive such a notification, please contact our office immediately on 03 379 6710. We would much rather answer a quick question than see you fall victim to a scam.
